Variable Capacity Compressor

This unique Sullair technology automatically adjusts the compressor displacement from 100% to 50% to match the changing demand. Energy saving and pressure stability surpasses compressors using standard load/unload control or suction throttling.

How does it work?

At full load, the variable capacity airend operate just like any other airend. The entire rotor length of the airend is being used for compression to generate maximum capacity at peak efficiency.
As demand drops,the compression volume varies accordingly by progressively opening internal bypass ports inside the variable capacity airend. The effective rotor length is thus progressively reduced, providing the most efficient part load control system.
The variable capacity airend is capable of turning down the compression volume efficiently to a maximum of 50% of the rated compressor capacity.The system constantly monitors the demand and reacts instantly to rapid increase or decrease while maintaining a stable system pressure.
The motor and airend continue to run at optimum speed through the full variable output range and therefore maintain optimum efficiency.
By constantly matching output to demand, cyling time is greatly reduced hence extending critical bearing life of the airend and motor.

No loss of capacity or efficiency
Sullair air ends have only two moving parts, the asymmetrical profile rotors. Contact occurs only on a lubricated pitchline,so wear is virtually eliminated. As a result, sullair compressors do not lose capacity or efficiency.

Longer air-end life
Controlled pressure lubrication and BFR (Bearing Fluid Reservoirs) assure a reliable supply of fluid to rotating elements.

Lower operating costs
Discharge port matches ratios of volume and operating pressure for maximum efficiency. Axial air inlet avoids preheating inlet air for further savings.
